Clean and disinfect the SpO2 probe after every use.
NOTE Before and after cleaning or disinfection, confirm that the SpO2 probe is not deteriorated or damaged. If it is deteriorated or damaged, stop using it.
SpO2 Probe Cleaning
Clean the probe and cable with a soft cloth or cotton swab moistened with ethanol (15°C (59°F), 76.9 to 81.4% by vol) and dry it thoroughly.
SpO2 Probe Disinfection
Disinfect the probe by soaking it in the following disinfectants. Refer to the instructions of the disinfectant for how to disinfect.
• Glutaraldehyde solution: 2.0%
• Alkyldiaminoethylglycine hydrochloride: 0.5%
• Benzalkonium chloride: 0.2%
• Benzethonium chloride: 0.2%
Detach the slide adapter from the light emitter and photo detector of the probe when you disinfect the probe. Otherwise, disinfectant may stay in a hole of the slide adapter after disinfection.
After disinfection, rinse the probe with sterilized or distilled water. Dry the probe thoroughly.
NOTE
• Use the specified disinfectant. Otherwise the probe may be deformed or damaged.
• Use the disinfectant correctly (concentration, immersion time, ventilation etc.) referring to the disinfectant manual.
• Do not let the connector get wet with disinfectants or water. If it gets wet, thoroughly wipe it. Do not use the probe with the connector wet.
• Do not use chlorhexidine gluconate such as Hibitane and ethanol mixture for disinfection. It may deteriorate the resin.
• After disinfection, the light emitter and the window of light receiver may be colored. It does not affect the measurement
